National Librarians’ Day was observed on August 12th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R.

Ranganathan, widely regarded as the Father of Library Science in India. The day highlights the significant

role of librarians in promoting reading, learning and access to knowledge. The programme aimed to

create awareness among students about the importance of libraries and encourage them to make effective

use of library resources. The occasion also honoured the valuable contribution of librarians in supporting

education and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
